Our Team Project

The Prep

1- As a group we used several tools to help us put the project together. We made
sure that all of us attended lectures each week so we were completely aware of what
content is being put across by our lecturers and to find out what they expect to see
within the presentation. We planned all our meetings through our WhatsApp group
chat where everyone was great at replying and contributing. This made the process
stress free and enjoyable. Meetings were held roughly once a week where we would
delegate tasks or meet up on the final presentation stage to build our area.
2- My main job on our team was taking the role of the team leader. I made sure all
tasks were completed on time and I also called most meetings. I set times, and
decided on which day we would meet (with consideration for other people’s
schedules). Myself and my assistant Kevin delegated tasks to every team member to
make sure every member is doing the same amount of work and we work well as a
team. As a team we decided we will chose one UN SDG goal each and make two
slides each for the presentation. I chose the importance of Education in relation to
society and done my slides on that topic.
3- In the beginning of the project I was quite worried about how we would work
together, considering the time zone differences and a potential language barrier. I
have also never completed a project of a similar caliber in an in-game scenario
before. When I initially logged onto Second Life for the first lecture I found the
controls very challenging so I was quite worried about the presentation in the coming
weeks, but to my surprise the whole experience was very enjoyable. Working with
the Turkish students was a great experience and we all got on very well. In general I
am very happy with how our stage turned out and how the presentation went. Virtual
environments as a module was one of the most enjoyable modules I have done in
my 3 year of college and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to take part in such
a fun class.
