The Red Team
During our last virtual lecture building manipulation was discussed. We learned
how to create objects and how to alter their dimensions. As a class we were also
given a texture pack that we were able to utilise for our builds. I found this class to be
one of the most interesting classes I have attended so far.
I stayed back after the lecture to finish building my small house just to get a full grasp
of how building works. I felt like doing this would benefit my future work with my
group during our creations of our presentation space, considering we are expected
to put together a PowerPoint slide presentation, make it interactive and make the
space that we will be presenting within, I felt like building my structure would be good
preparation.
As a group we delegated different topics for ourselves that will tie into our theme, this
being Society. We all chose our designated UN SDG. My choice was Education.
In my research I found that education is a key need in human development. Not only
necessary for biological development of the human brain but it is also essential for
human prosperity and for professional growth.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused a massive crisis within the Education sector
globally during its 2-year period. Due to children and young adults not being able to
physically socialise and present themselves in public schools due to their closures,
the sector suffered huge losses. 150 million children were unable to attend over 50%
of their classes. It is estimated that these children will lose $17 trillion combined over
their professional lifetime.
Online education has also had a massive impact on student’s mental health. The
inability to socialise and be physically present in classes proves problematic. Studies
show that many students prefer physical learning over online classes due to their
intractability.
Education heavily ties into our topic of Society as education plays a great role in the
formation of communities. It can be suggested that education is the key source of
community formation. Local schools educate children which become friends, get
hired at local businesses and create bonds. Education is essential when developing
a strong society.
